My client is one of the UK’s leading integrated design practices, known for their multidisciplinary expertise across various disciples.
They are currently looking to recruit a motivated Senior to Principal Bat Ecologist to join their busy ecology department in Devon. This role offers the right candidate the opportunity to work on complex and rewarding projects, providing technical advice to a diverse range of clients.
Main Duties:
- Project Management: Manage and oversee ecology projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and to the highest standards.
- Bat Ecology Expertise: Utilize your expertise in bat ecology to conduct surveys, assessments, and provide informed advice on bat conservation and protection.
- Client Liaison: Maintain excellent relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and providing tailored ecological solutions.
- Biodiversity Net Gain: Advise clients on Biodiversity Net Gain, including producing Biodiversity Impact Assessments (BIA)
- Report Writing: Prepare complex reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) reports, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) documents, and Species and Habitat Management Plans.
- Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with relevant wildlife legislation and best practice survey techniques.
Experience Required:
- Educational Background: Degree level or equivalent qualification in Ecology or a related field.
- Professional Membership: Full Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or a similar organization.
- Licensing: Possession of a Level 2 Bat Licence.
- Project Management Experience: At least 3 years of project management experience with excellent client liaison skills.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, protected species licensing, and the UK planning system.
- Software Skills: Competency in Microsoft Office, with some knowledge of GIS packages preferred but not essential.
- Driving License: A full, clean UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
